Colorado Women鈥檚 Bar Association Foundation Honors Two 91桃色 Alums

The Colorado Women鈥檚 Bar Association Foundation is honoring two 91桃色 alums at its annual Raising the Bar Awards gala on Thursday, Sept 8. The non-profit organization honors women in the legal field who are doing outstanding work in our local, national and global community.

This year鈥檚 theme is 鈥淗onoring Women Lawyers Who Raise the Bar by Maintaining a Significant and Sustained Commitment to Pro Bono Services.鈥澨

Lucy Denson

Lucy听Hojo听Denson, a 91桃色 alumna, is being honored by the听听Foundation for her remarkable work with the Pro Bono听Pro Se听Domestic Clinic in Arapahoe County.听The clinic has lawyers provide free legal advice every Friday to individuals who have family law questions. Denson听helped to create the clinic and ran it by herself from 2002听to听2014.听Denson graduated from Chapman College in 1975 with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in social work. She听received her master鈥檚 degree in social work from the 91桃色听in 1979 and her J.D. from 91桃色's听听in 1988.

Tamara Goodlette

Also being honored is 91桃色 alumna,听Tamara F. Goodlette. She听is being recognized for her exceptional commitment to pro bono services. Goodlette听spent six years as a lead attorney on a team representing a Texas death row inmate in his state habeas proceedings. She and her team devoted countless hours to the case, and ultimately secured their innocent client鈥檚 release from prison. Goodlette听recently began representing a man on Utah death row in his state habeas corpus proceedings. In addition, she听served for many years as a pro bono legal adviser to the Rocky Mountain Children鈥檚 Law Center. She is also a member of the Board of Trustees for the Legal Aid Foundation and has been on the Board for the Denver Court Appointed Special Advocates. Goodlette听received her J.D. from 91桃色's听Sturm College of Law in 2004.

Alison Haugen

Alison Haugen, a dual degree student at 91桃色's Sturm College of Law and听, will be speaking at the CWBA Foundation Raising the Bar event. Currently, Alison is a policy intern at the ACLU of Colorado.听Last year she was a social work intern at the Office of the Public Defender. Previously, she听participated in the听Immigrants鈥 Rights Lab听and spent a week providing legal services to detained immigrants听at the family detention center in Dilley, TX. She has听also volunteered听with Towards Justice,听Lowrey听Parady, LLC, and CREEC.
