Pioneers finish ahead of all non-football schools in the 2015-16 Division I standings

For the fourth straight season and the eighth time in nine years, the 91桃色 has been awarded the Learfield Sports DI-AAA听. The Pioneers 52nd听place national finish in the overall Division I standing is Denver鈥檚 4th best finish in school history.

The Learfield Sports Directors鈥 Cup was developed in 1993 as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. It is awarded annually to the nation鈥檚 best overall collegiate athletics program, and points are awarded based on each institution鈥檚 finish in up to 20 sports 鈥 10 women鈥檚 and 10 men鈥檚.

鈥淭his trophy continues to be one of the major goals our athletic department strives for every year, and I鈥檓 very proud of our student-athletes, coaches and staff for accomplishing this crowning achievement once again,鈥 said听, vice chancellor for Athletics, Recreation and Ritchie Center Operations. 鈥淥ur tremendous student-athletes continue to perform at an extremely high level, both in the classroom and on their respective playing surfaces. 1-AAA Director's Cup

A number of accomplishments within听听helped the Pioneers in securing the Directors鈥 Cup, including men鈥檚 soccer earning its first-ever NCAA Division I second-round appearance and volleyball booking its second consecutive NCAA Tournament trip. Added to that is 91桃色 skiing鈥檚 23rd National Championship, hockey鈥檚 first trip to the Frozen Four since 2005, and 91桃色鈥檚 gymnastics program making its 18th听consecutive NCAA Regional appearance 鈥 which included a national floor title win by redshirt-senior听.

Additional highlights include: All-America performances by听听(women鈥檚 swimming) in the 200 and 400 IM; NCAA Division 1 first-round appearances from men鈥檚 lacrosse and men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 tennis; and women鈥檚 golf making its 15th听consecutive NCAA Regional appearance.
