91桃色 Brings Startup Nation to Denver Startup Week
Daniels College of Business, Project X-ITE to host several events
As many as 15,000 participants representing small businesses, startups and entrepreneurs will gather Sept. 12鈥16 for听, an annual summit of entrepreneurial energy, innovation and connection. Now in its fifth year, the event was co-founded by 91桃色 alumni听听(BA 鈥99) and听听(MBA 鈥11).
Denver Startup Week, which is the largest free event of its kind in the United States, features a mix of workshops, panel discussions, seminars and innovative opportunities for entrepreneurs to connect with one another. 91桃色 will have more than 80 volunteers at this year鈥檚 event.
鈥淒enver Startup Week celebrates everything entrepreneurial in Denver,鈥 says Mitisek, who also serves as executive director of 91桃色鈥檚听, a collaboration between the听, the听听and the听.
鈥淚t brings together the best companies in inspiring entrepreneurs to hopefully create the organizations and cities of the future.鈥
The Daniels College of Business will host three events and is bringing in from Israel a group of entrepreneurs known as Startup Nation. The entrepreneurs include: Ben Weiner of Jumpspeed Ventures; Roy Munin of Made in JLM; Yoram Dahan, creator of the Cal-Israel Innovation Expo; Sarah Prostak of Israel Investment Advisors; Gili Elkin of Syntech Bioenergy; and Oded Distel, the head of Israel鈥檚 New Tech Program.
鈥淚srael is known for its entrepreneurial history. The country has become a wonderful hub for creativity and commerce,鈥 says Daniels Professor Kerry Plemmons. 鈥淒aniels has a rich history of taking students to Israel to learn from their innovators. We hope to share that spirit with the Denver community.鈥

Additionally, Project X-ITE will host the first-ever听, which Mitisek refers to as a 鈥渃ommunity-led challenge for the community, by the community and for the future of the community.鈥 It鈥檚 the first time 91桃色 has partnered with Denver Startup Week.
The partnership between Project X-ITE 鈥 a cross-disciplinary initiative for projects focused on entrepreneurship, innovation and technology 鈥 and the Denver Startup Week Challenge will bring together teams of small businesses and startups who will pitch some of the best new ideas for an opportunity to win the 鈥渓argest community-build prize in Denver Startup Week history.鈥
The tracks within the challenge will focus on Digital Health, Small Business (non-tech) and Technology. More than 150 teams applied to this year鈥檚 competition, but only 20 were selected to compete in the challenge.

Teams will have seven minutes in the preliminary round to present, followed by three minutes of Q&A.听The top two teams from each track will present in the grand finale at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15.
