Four of the original Tuskegee Airman will visit the 91桃色 campus Friday to take part in an annual awards and scholarship banquet hosted by the Hubert L. 鈥淗ooks鈥 Jones (HLHJ) Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen Inc.

The event begins at 7 p.m. in the event center at the Fritz Knoebel School of Hospitality Management. Amelia Earhart, a reporter with 9News, will be the keynote speaker.

In honor of the Tuskegee Airmen鈥檚 diamond anniversary, the program will celebrate their achievements and recognize the major milestone in aviation鈥檚 history by honoring the remaining Colorado Documented Original Tuskegee Airmen, as well as recognize four of Colorado鈥檚 top youth. The HLHJ Chapter听has a $50,000 endowed scholarship at the 91桃色.

It was 75 years ago that the airmen made history. The Tuskegee Airmen were an elite group of fighter pilots,听becoming the first black servicemen to serve as military aviators in the U.S. armed forces听during World War II. They defied the belief of the day that black men were not smart enough to become pilots, and they put their lives at risk by serving their country while being subjected to racial discrimination at home and abroad.
