Dear 91桃色 Community,鈥

Since we last wrote to you on Dec. 23, we have been monitoring the鈥痩ocal, national and鈥痝lobal omicron COVID-19 variant鈥痵ituation very closely. Unfortunately,鈥痯ositivity rates in the city, on campus, and around the country鈥痑nd world鈥痗ontinue to rise as a direct result of the鈥痟igh鈥痶ransmissibility鈥痳ate of the variant. Early indications are that this variant is not as鈥痙angerous as earlier strains鈥攅specially to those who鈥痑re fully鈥痸accinated. Nonetheless, we will need adequate space for isolation for residential students who test positive. To鈥痳eturn as safely and seamlessly as possible,鈥痺e are鈥痠mplementing a staggered return that will allow鈥痷s to鈥痓uild鈥痷pon鈥痮ur鈥痵uccessful mitigation efforts鈥痮ver the past 21 months.

To describe our plans and address any questions,鈥痺e鈥痑re hosting鈥痶wo town halls鈥痭ext week,鈥痜eaturing鈥痶he National Jewish Health medical advisory team and 91桃色 staff.鈥 鈥

Initial Remote Instruction & Meetings
We鈥痺ill begin with two weeks听of remote classes and meetings, resuming in-person on Tuesday, Jan 18.鈥疪esidential鈥痵tudents are welcome to return鈥攖he fitness center, community commons,鈥痑nd library will be open,鈥痑nd鈥痵ome鈥痵tudent events will continue. Of course, those residential students who prefer to remain remote during this period are allowed and encouraged to do so. Please complete the return-to-campus steps itemized below鈥痑s soon as you are able in order to more fully enjoy our campus community.

During this鈥痝radual return, staff鈥痬ay consult with their supervisors to鈥痺ork remotely鈥痺hen feasible. For guidance on remote work, visit our听COVID-19 website. With the high positivity rate in the community, we understand individuals and units may experience positive cases of COVID-19 and that dependents of 91桃色 personnel and students may require care due to COVID-19 infection and exposures. We will all need to be flexible鈥痙uring this鈥痶ime.

Reduced Isolation Length
The CDC has recommended a shorter isolation period (5 days) when individuals are confirmed positive but asymptomatic鈥痮r after symptoms have resolved.鈥疌DC guidance is an important consideration, and we are working with the Denver Department of Public Health & Environment to implement this guidance in a way that makes sense for a residential higher education community. We will require testing on day five to verify reduced viral load and鈥痗onfirm improved/minimal symptoms before鈥痑llowing the completion of isolation and a full鈥痳eturn to the 91桃色 campus.鈥疷ntil this approved revision, we will follow the current听isolation protocol.

Boosters
We strongly encourage everyone to receive a booster shot as soon as possible. Booster shots will be required by January 31, 2022. 91桃色 is offering on-campus booster clinics on鈥疛anuary 5, 8, and 12.鈥疨lease indicate your .鈥
