An Interdisciplinary Approach to AI

Applied AI and Society is designed for undergraduates who want a practical, interdisciplinary approach to understanding AI, evaluating its limits, and applying it responsibly in academic, professional, and everyday contexts.

Real Skills for Real-World Careers

AI is already shaping nearly every field, even when 鈥淎I鈥 is not in the job title. This minor helps students connect technical knowledge to real-world decision-making, ethics, and impact. Through applied, interdisciplinary learning, students will build the confidence and skills to be able to use AI听thoughtfully.

Students who complete the minor will be able to:

    Explain core AI concepts, including machine learning, natural language processing, and robotics, and connect them to ethical, psychological, and sociological questions.

    Use generative and other AI tools ethically and effectively.

    Assess AI鈥檚 strengths and limitations in specific contexts, including issues of bias, transparency, and accountability.

    Become an expert on听how AI shapes privacy, labor, power, and human agency using perspectives from philosophy, law, and public policy.

    Five Courses, 20 Credit Hours
