Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

2026 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

Message from the 91桃色 AVC and Chief of Campus Safety

There is no higher priority here at the 91桃色 (鈥91桃色鈥) than promoting the safety and security of our community so that our students, faculty, staff and visitors can learn, live, and work. We are fortunate to have the support and services of the best community- focused and engaged Campus Safety Department in the country looking out for all of us here.

The 2026 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes information about the services the University provides and the resources available to the campus community. I encourage you to ask questions and share ideas with staff at the Department of Campus Safety or any of the other units listed as you take steps to protect yourself and help promote a safe, secure environment for all.

At 91桃色, we continue to build a unique Department of Campus Safety. Our mission is to serve everyone on our campus, with student safety and security first in our thoughts and actions.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act, the University makes available a copy of this Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. This report includes crime statistics for the previous three years, institutional policies concerning campus safety, University response to reported crimes, security and other crime prevention information.

Newly enrolled students learn about living in the campus community during 91桃色鈥檚 Discoveries Orientation. Topics include personal safety, crime reporting, emergency procedures, respect for others, alcohol, consent and sexual assault. The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report is produced by the Department of Campus Safety in collaboration with multiple units on campus as well as in cooperation with the Denver Police Department, the local law enforcement agency that provides services to 91桃色 properties within their jurisdiction.

During the 2026鈥2027 academic year, we will continue strengthening our relationships with students and campus partners across the University while investing in the capabilities of the Department of Campus Safety. We remain committed to providing our staff with the training, resources, and tools necessary to serve our community effectively; strengthening prevention and preparedness efforts; supporting the behavioral health needs of our community; and working closely with our campus neighbors, local businesses, and public safety partners.

We also recognize that trust is essential to effective campus safety. Our responsibility is not simply to protect this community, but to know it, listen to it, and remain responsive to its needs. We encourage students, faculty, staff, families, and community members to reach out to us with questions, concerns, feedback, and ideas.

It is a privilege to serve the 91桃色 community. Thank you for doing your part to look out for one another and for helping us make 91桃色 a safer and stronger community.

Preparing the Report

91桃色 values public accountability and transparency for campus safety action. Accordingly, 91桃色 complies with all applicable state and federal reporting laws, including the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (鈥淐lery Act鈥), which is a federal law requiring colleges and universities to disclose information about certain crimes identified in the Clery Act on and around their campuses.

This Annual Security and Fire Safety Report (鈥淎SFSR鈥) highlights safety practices and resources available to the 91桃色 community. It also includes 91桃色 policies concerning campus safety, crime prevention, sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, alcohol and other drugs, hazing, other dangerous situations, access to the campus, and fire safety. All statements are applicable to each 91桃色 campus unless specifically stated otherwise.

The Clery Coordinator prepares this ASFSR in collaboration with the Denver Police Department, Denver Fire Department, Glenwood Springs Police Department, Durango Police Department, and 91桃色鈥檚 Department of Campus Safety (鈥淐ampus Safety鈥), Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities (鈥淪RR鈥), Office of Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity (鈥淐REO鈥), Housing and Residential Education (鈥淗RE鈥), Health and Counseling Center (鈥淗CC鈥), Office of Emergency Preparedness & Fire Safety, Office of General Counsel (鈥淥GC鈥), and Campus Security Authorities (鈥淐SA鈥). CSAs are individuals at the University who, because of their function for the University, have an obligation under the Clery Act to notify the University of alleged Clery Act crimes that are reported to them in good faith, or alleged Clery Act crimes that they may personally witness.

Once 91桃色 has reviewed the data for accuracy for each 91桃色 campus and finalized the ASFSR, on or prior to October 1, 91桃色 notifies prospective and current students and employees of the report鈥檚 availability, the electronic and physical address at which the report can be accessed, and a brief description of the contents. 91桃色 communicates this information via current students鈥 and employees鈥 University email addresses and publicizes the availability of the report on various webpages on the University website.

The 2026 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report is posted on a dedicated ASFSR webpage on Campus Safety鈥檚 website written in HTML and a PDF file. Printed copies are available at the Campus Safety Center at 2130 S High St, Denver, CO 80208. Printed copies are also available at the Western Colorado Campus at 1101 Grand Ave, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601 and the Four Corners Campus at 701 Camino Del Rio, Durango, CO 81301.

For more information regarding campus safety or to request a hard copy of the report, contact Campus Safety at 303.871.2334, e-mail the Clery Coordinator at Mark.Derham@du.edu, or write to Campus Safety at 2130 S High St, Denver, CO, 80208.
